ABOUT LEGACY DIAMOND & GEMS

THIRD GENERATION JEWELERS

Overwhelming appeals for a high quality, locally-owned jewelry store has led to the opening of a “new generation style” jewelry store. Spencer Kraft and Tom Kraft present Legacy Diamond & Gems—carrying on the integrity from two previous generations.

Legacy Diamond & Gems was founded by Spencer Kraft & Thomas Kraft in January 2018.

Our story:

In creating Legacy Diamond & Gems we drew upon our family’s previous two generations of experience in the fine jewelry business. Knowing that we wanted to continue in the jewelry industry while keeping the legacy of our family’s values, with our own modern touch to bring customers a unique shopping experience.

GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional

As the third generation of a family of Sheridan jewelers, Spencer Kraft’s roots in the industry and the community are deep. Spencer is now co-owner of Legacy Diamond & Gems. Spencer has more than 15 years of experience working in the family business of fine jewelry and service and has added to his firsthand, in-store education with multiple courses and certifications from professional industry-leading organizations.

He has completed five courses from the Gemological Institute of America and is a GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional. In 2016, Jewelers of America awarded Spencer with the JA Certified Senior Management Professional (CSMP) designation – the second and highest level of the Jewelers of America Professional Management Certification Program. The certification is the Jewelers of America’s recognition that consumers can be confident and secure in trusting the skills and knowledge that Spencer offers. Spencer’s career has also included time working in the telecommunications field and previously owning his own small business.

Spencer is excited to draw on his love for the jewelry trade and his family history as a third-generation jeweler. His vision is to create for valued customers a new, modern fine jewelry shopping experience at the Kraft family’s storied location on Main Street.

Spencer, a Wyoming native, also is active in the Sheridan community and has a particular passion for supporting the local downtown area. He has volunteered with Downtown Sheridan Association since 2010 and chairs the 3rd Thursday Street Festival and Historic Downtown Promotions committees. Spencer also served as president for the CHAPS Equine Assisted Therapy board in 2016.

When he’s not volunteering or at the shop (and admittedly, those two pursuits don’t leave time for much else!), Spencer travels as often—and as far across the globe–as possible while also focusing on his better half plus his friends and family.

Thomas J. Kraft, Co-Owner & Co- Founder

GIA Graduate Gemologist

Tom is a second-generation Jeweler and Gemologist in the Kraft family, and has over 36 years of experience. Starting his jewelry career early on, by studying the Diamond course as a junior in high school, Tom’s future was clear in doing what he loved. He graduated from the Jewelry Management course at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in 1984 and earned his Graduate Gemologist degree in 1985 and is currently recognized as the only active GIA Graduate Gemologist in Sheridan and Johnson counties. Tom’s experience runs deep in searching the world for the finest quality jewelry at the best prices available, attending some of the world’s largest jewelry shows and traveling to Antwerp, Belgium on several occasions searching for the best diamond sources available.

Tom worked at Kraft’s Jewelry until 1997 when other opportunities took him to St. George, Utah where he worked for one of the oldest jewelers in the area until 2013. Another opportunity again came along for Tom when in 2013 he moved to Tulsa, OK and went to work for one of the most successful single location, independently owned jewelry stores in the United States. There he learned many skills and knowledge to compete and succeed in today’s web based business world.

Tom’s love of community has always been close to his heart, serving many years on the Sheridan Noon Lion’s Club Board of Directors and then as President. In St. George, Utah he served on the activities committee of the Historic Downtown Association and was instrumental in promoting downtown businesses. Tom also dedicated countless hours to the Inter mountain Jewelers Association, serving for nearly two decades on the Board of Directors and as President of the organization. He was also named Jeweler of the Year in a voting among his peers in the four state organization. Tom is so excited to be back in the Sheridan community he has always called home.
